Article I
Editorial Authority
The Editor-in-Chief holds sole and final authority over all editorial decisions, including:
- Selection of topics and stories to cover
- Assignment of writers and contributors
- Editorial content, headlines, and presentation
- Timing and prominence of publication
- Corrections, retractions, and editorial responses
Key Principle: No individual outside the editorial team—including AIU.ac leadership, advertisers, or sponsors—may direct, review, or veto editorial content before publication.
Article II
Institutional Separation
AI Business Review operates with a formal separation from Artificial Intelligence University (AIU.ac):
- AIU.ac provides institutional support and resources but does not participate in editorial decisions
- Editorial staff report to the Editor-in-Chief, not to AIU.ac leadership
- AIU.ac may not request favorable coverage or suppression of unfavorable coverage
- Coverage of AIU.ac is subject to the same standards as any other entity
Article III
Commercial Firewall
Editorial operations are separated from commercial operations:
- Advertising and sponsorship do not influence editorial content
- Advertisers receive no advance notice or review of editorial content
- Editorial staff do not participate in advertising sales or negotiations
- Commercial staff do not attend editorial meetings or access unpublished content
Article IV
Editorial Board Role
The Editorial Board serves in an advisory capacity only:
- Board members provide strategic guidance on content direction
- Board members may be consulted for expert review of technical content
- Board members do not have authority to direct specific coverage decisions
- The Editor-in-Chief is not bound by Board recommendations
Article V
Contributor Independence
Contributors affiliated with AIU.ac may write for AI Business Review under these conditions:
- All affiliations are disclosed in contributor bios and relevant articles
- Contributors are recused from coverage directly affecting AIU.ac
- Contributors serve as writers only, without editorial authority
- All contributions undergo standard editorial review
Article VI
Breach Reporting
Any attempt to breach editorial independence should be reported:
- Staff may report concerns to the Editor-in-Chief confidentially
- If the concern involves the Editor-in-Chief, staff may report to the Editorial Board Chair
- Substantiated breaches will be disclosed publicly
- Retaliation against those reporting concerns is prohibited
Article VII
Charter Amendment
This Charter may only be amended with:
- Consent of the Editor-in-Chief
- Majority approval of the Editorial Board
- Public notice of changes with rationale
Amendments that weaken editorial independence require additional public consultation period of 30 days.
Article VIII
Public Accountability
This Charter is published publicly and applies to all AI Business Review operations:
- The Charter is accessible on our website at all times
- All editorial staff acknowledge the Charter upon joining
- Annual review confirms ongoing compliance
- Readers may inquire about Charter compliance at any time
